Investis launches Goal Ghana and Domestic Violence Helpline Websites

Investis recently launched websites for the GoalGhana and the Domestic Violence Helpline charities, as part of a new initiative to help non-profit organisations increase their profile on the Internet.
The Investis Charity Committee, founded in 2006, is run by a cross-section of Investis employees. Its aims are to donate Investis’ talent, technology and other resources to help not-for-profit entities. As a company, Investis has committed to dedicate the equivalent of one day per employee per year to charitable causes, where our involvement and expertise will make a demonstrable difference. As well as websites, the Committee plans to engage in local community projects in 2007.
The two projects chosen in 2006 were the National Domestic Violence Helpline who needed a web presence to answer often asked questions and help ease the call flow to their helpline and GoalGhana whose website will help with fundraising and informing donors of how their money is being spent.
The National Domestic Violence Helpline (www.nationaldomesticviolencehelpline.org.uk), run jointly by Refuge and Women’s Aid, receives over 200 calls a day from women experiencing domestic violence, as well as from concerned friends and family members. At present, only 65% of calls are answered. The aim of the website is to provide answers to frequently asked questions in order to relieve the demands on the helpline, thereby allowing those with a real need for help to get through.
GoalGhana (www.goalghana.com) is a charity which, by supporting local NGO RAINS, helps children in poor areas of Ghana develops life and sport skills in a positive and structured environment. By organising football events and weekly training sessions, these children are able to interact with positive role models, peers and above all – have some fun. GoalGhana’s fundraising provides the children with essentials such as clean water, facilities and kit. The website functions as a vital tool for raising awareness around the issues and the charity.
