Investis research shows number of HTML annual reports up nearly 50% in 2008

A review of online annual report formats conducted by Investis has shown some significant changes in market practice in 2008, following the introduction of new legislation last year facilitating electronic communications with shareholders.
In the most complete survey yet of reports published in 2008, Investis found that the proportion of FTSE100 companies publishing their annual reports in HTML format had risen from 44% to 65%, an increase of nearly 50%. Amongst FTSE250 companies the growth rate of two-thirds was even greater, although only 20% of the companies surveyed produced an HTML version of their report, up from 12% last year. Amongst smaller companies, HTML reports are still the exception, with only 8% of the companies surveyed choosing this format.
