Photo of Helen JamesHelen James has left a high-flying career in investment banking in order to set up an investor relations internet company called Investis, which is launched today.

Miss James, 30, resigned as head of equity sales at Paribas earlier this year when she saw the opportunity of using the internet as a low cost way of connecting companies with the new generation of online investors.

Investis has already signed up Carlton Communications and is charging around £5,000 to set-up each website, which will carry annual reports, live share prices, news and other information.

Miss James has been joined by Al Loehnis, an analyst from CSFB. She said: "We know how to design high-quality web sites and what the investment community looks for." Small companies particularly grumble with the cost of dealing with inquiries and Miss James said: "The internet will transform the way they communicate with investors."
