Making it quicker to pay
- New tills in 1,000 stores
- Transaction time 1/3rd lower
- All stores complete by March 2005
The programme to modernise tills in our stores, is well advanced with new equipment in over a 1000 stores and the programme due for completion by the end of this financial year.
With increasing numbers of customers choosing to pay by card, our previous tills, with an average age of 12 years, transacted slowly and frequently broke down.
The new tills reduce the time taken to pay by a third and their smaller size means we have room for more tills, increasing our capacity at busy times of the day.
In summary - we have worked hard to make Boots a more convenient place to shop. Early indications are encouraging with customer numbers in our sample stores showing 4% growth for the first six months of this year.
